Thanks!

Hey Max, thanks for doing all this housekeeping work - I really appreciate it and it will certainly make things easier on those who are not 100% wiki-wise when they start here! Cheers & Thanks! Dick 16:57, 10 February 2007 (CST)

Budget

Hi Max -- I revised the Total Budget incorporating your numbers from the Technologists' Budget but excluding the 3-D stuff, which is tentatively now listed with Maire O'Neill and the MSU School of Architecture, but I have not heard from her yet. There were some other adjustments but those were the main items. Let me know if you see anything flagrantly (or otherwise) wrong or bad. Cheers Dick 12:48, 16 February 2007 (CST)

Work Plan

Hi Max - I copied and reformatted a bit the list on your Development Progression page to the Work Plan section of the Draft Narrative. This will need to be re-cast a bit for purposes of the narrative but (unless you say otherwise!) it seems to me to effectively outline the technology end of the work. I don't completely understand the time sequence - I know that they are listed more or less in time order, but is that rigorous? And how much overlapping is there for those different tasks? (I actually feel pretty comfortable with it - I think [:-) , just want your confirmation). If you can think of words we can add to the technology section under "Evaluation Procedures" and "Milestones" near the end of the Work Plan section, go for it. I just made it up for the historians... SketchUp

Hey Max - have you actually used SketchUp? I downloaded it and at first glance it looks really cool, and apart from our project could well have use in things for the Vernac Arch Forum guidebook. Thanks for sharing! Cheers Dick 10:31, 22 February 2007 (CST)

I talked to Maire O'Neill at the MSU School of Architecture, and she's interested but nervous about the amount of time she might have to spend if she is the overseer of students doing our work. Can you comment on how familiar you are with SketchUp and if we added some time to your budget, would you feel comfortable overseeing such students (remotely) more directly? We could see if Steve Luft has such students as well. Thanks! Dick 10:48, 1 March 2007 (CST)
I have some limited familiarity with SketchUp but I plan on becoming ever more so. I would happily review and curate the results of the students, and collaborate with Maire O'Neill. I don't know how much "overseeing" I could do with students that are not here in the office. I certainly could check the models into the system, check them for quality, make any needed minor adjustments, and return any with suggestions for improvement. I also could build a few different kinds (e.g., a multi-family, a craftsman and a commercial) as examples. Time permitting I might even be able to make a step by step tutorial out of each one. So yes, sounds great. Lets call that 120 hours of additional work over the course of the two years (which I'm happy to give as in-kind if need be). Max 16:17, 13 March 2007 (CST)

and another question

How do you feel about posting the access info to the eNHLDwiki on the "members only" section of the CPR web site? The goal would be to get more input... I don't feel strongly about it, just an idea. Comments? Cheers Dick 13:22, 22 February 2007 (CST)

I see no problem with that. Max 16:10, 13 March 2007 (CST)

Continuing the project

Hi Max -- whenever you get to this project again, I have had one thought for your consideration - I'd basically like to archive the present Main Page, as a means of accessing the original concept. As the new version of the work develops, most of that is not really pertinent, but I'd like to be able to refer to it (and refer others to it). If this seems reasonable to you, I'll be happy to begin a revamp of the main page if you want, and to archive the existing main page. Thanks! Dick 14:20, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
