Help:How do I make an external link?

  • To link to an outside web page, place the link inside single square brackets (as opposed to double, which are for internal links within our wiki), like this (don't forget the http:// ):

In practice, that yields this: [1] This is good for making reference links within the text of your article.

  • You can also add display text, like this:
[http://www.gravmag.com Dick Gibson's web site]

The above formatting produces this: Dick Gibson's web site Note that there is no pipe (the vertical line |) - you just type the display text, after a space after the full link URL. This is a common format for a link in a reference list.

  • A third way, not as aesthetically pleasing, is to just type the "naked" URL:
http://www.gravmag.com

which produces this: http://www.gravmag.com
