Towle-Winterhalter-Hannifin Company moved to this building in 1929 and occupied it until the late 1970s. The building was owned earlier by Senator William A. Clark, and was home to his newspaper The Independent Free Press until 1910, when the Anaconda Company bought the paper and the building.
