Contractor George Wortman built this two-story craftsman style home about 1917. Owners J. Fred and Sophia "Babe" Gamer lived here and converted the residence to a duplex in the 1930s, to make room for Fred's brother Charles and mother Emma. Charles and Fred's father established a shoe business in Helena in 1868, continued by his sons in Butte. Fed and Sophie were also the founders of Gamer's Confectionary, a pasty restaurant on Park Street. The Gamers lived here until Sophie's death in 1949 and Fred's in 1950.
