Attorney Lewis O. Evans had this Craftsman-style bungalow designed by architect William A. O'Brien about 1906. Gabled dormers add to the Craftsman heart of the home. The library east of the living room was added at the insistence of Mrs. Evans after the original foundation was laid, so there is a second foundation under the library. The interior includes Italian marble, Mexican tile, and a floor-to-ceiling copper-sheathed fireplace.

Lewis Evans was an expert in mining law and partner of attorney John F. Forbis. Evans later became the general council of the Amalgamated Copper Mining Company, serving in that capacity from 1914 until his death in 1931.

Evans was admired for his "colossal intellect and rare understanding", and the Montana Standard wrote that "men loved Mr. Evans because he never forgot, never passed them by."
